ASHLAND – The third annual Big Sandy Superstore Amy For Africa  Wiffleball Classic will be played Aug. 1 at Unity Baptist Church.

The tournament has been wildly successful in the first two years, raising nearly $4,000 for the organization last summer.

Sam Beason remains the tournament director and field builder. Last summer, he set up two fields for the 32 teams who entered the tournament. Wiffleballs were flying out of both fields.

Registration won’t start until May.

The Bomb Squad, with Matt Fultz, Kyle Gilmore, Nick Caudill and Aaron Ellis, were last year’s champions.

Bomb Squad defeated the Underdogs, 13-11, in the championship game.

Thirty-two teams fought for the coveted title that drew a crowd from far and wide to the lot beside Unity Baptist Church in Ashland. Estimates were around 300 fans.[youtube
