BOSTON – The official results are in for the Boston Athletic Association 5,000 and Amy For Africa runner Chris Compston exceeded expectations.
Compston, wife of AFA founder Amy Compston, was 428th out of 8,640 runners who competed. He ran a personal best of 20:34 on the sunny morning. That put him among the top 5 percent of finishers.
Chris has been training to run six marathons in the next eight months with his wife Amy. They begin that trek together in May. Amy gets a jump on marathon season Monday when she competes in the Boston Marathon for the second year in a row.
“I know the training made a big difference in my time,” Chris said. “I could have had an even better time because I had a lot of kick left at the end.”
Compston passed 30 to 40 competitors during a strong stretch run.
Amanda Evans also finished the 5K for Team AFA.
