ASHLAND, Ky. — Amy For Africa’s stable of runners is growing.
Nine runners have committed to run for Team AFA in various races this season from 5Ks to marathons. Each runner will be seeking fundraising for the organization during events where they participate.
They will be running in official Amy For Africa gear and have committed to collecting at least $100 apiece throughout the race season.
Experienced marathon runner John Davis, who is originally from the Huntington area, is among the elite who agreed to run for the organization. He was instrumental in getting Amy Compston to run her first marathon in January 2012.
Church friends and even family are part of the Team AFA runners.

“We are so honored that these great runners have chosen to run for Amy For Africa,” said Compston, a co-founder of the organization that raises money for missions in Moyo, Uganda. “We know it’s a commitment and we praise the Lord for willing servants who want to run for God. The money raised, every penny of it, will be put to good use.

“We welcome other runners who would like to run for us, too. The door is always open.”
Here is a list of the runners participating:
-Mandi Wesolowski (Amy’s sister).
-Danielle Wesolowski (Amy’s sister-in-law).
-Drew Vazquez (Amy’s nephew and the youngest runner on Team AFA at age 11).
