ASHLAND, Ky. – A documentary on Amy Compston and the Amy For Africa mission will premiere on Tuesday night at 6:30 at the Highlands Museum in downtown Ashland.
The 55-minute documentary, “Amy Compston: Feet on a Mission,” was produced by Adam Black, a Morehead State University student. He first heard the story of Compston’s 14-year battle with alcohol and drug addiction and her turnaround through God’s amazing grace, while filming her during a speaking engagement at a civic group.
Black was filming that segment for the organization to be used on the amyforafrica.com website.
The documentary details the early days of Amy’s life through her time of working with the Amy For Africa mission, which she co-founded with Mark Maynard in May of 2013.
Maynard served as an executive producer of the documentary which includes interviews with Amy, her husband Chris, father Steve Wesolowski, mother Kathy Whitely and sister Amanda Wesolowski.
The event is free and open to the public. Adam’s wife, Stacy, will serve as hostess and serve popcorn, hot dogs and nachos.
Copies of the documentary will be available for purchase with a $5 donation to Amy For Africa.
