BOSTON — Amy For Africa runner Chris Compston competed in the Boston 5K on Saturday morning and finished in a time of 22 minutes and 24 seconds.
While it was far off his PR it was still an outstanding time given a recently twisted ankle that kept him off the roads for a couple of weeks. Chris is preparing for the Cloudsplitter 100 in Elkhorn City this fall. He and wife Amy will be running the 100-mile race in October.
Chris will now become the biggest supporter for his wife as she competes in her fourth consecutive Boston Marathon on Monday. It was after her first Boston Marathon in 2013 that Amy For Africa was formed, which makes the run even closer to her heart. The couple took in some special ceremonies on the three-year anniversary of the tragic 2013 Boston Marathon.
Last year she ran a personal record in the Boston Marathon. Her goal this year is to get a Boston Marathon qualifying time of 3:35 (or less).
