ASHLAND, Ky. —Technology will allow fans of Amy Compston to follow her on Monday during the Boston Marathon.
Text 15196 to 345678 to receive updates on where she is during race day. She will probably start around 10:30 to 11 a.m. It will alert you up to four times on the day of the race, telling where she is at and her current pace.
Amy, 29, is asking Amy For Africa followers to say a pray every time it alerts.
Last year Amy finished in her best marathon time in three hours, 28 minutes and was among the top 15 percent of the females overall. Her goal is to shave a few minutes off that time. Her mile pace was 7:55 over the hilly 26.2 miles.
More than 9,000 additional runners will be competing in the Boston Marathon one year after the tragedy that unfolded last April with the two bombings.
The fans in Boston are expected to total more than 1 million on Monday to watch the world’s most historic and prestigious marathon.
