KOKOMO, Ind. — Amy For Africa received its one-time biggest gift on May 10 from Saber Management, a professional sales and marketing organization that specializes in the cemetery and funeral industry.

Saber CEO and President David Sullivan presented Amy Compston with a check for $10,000 to further the AFA cause in the Moyo district of Uganda.

“We are so humbled and honored that this great organization would choose to partner with us in such a big way,” Compston said. “God doesn’t call everybody to go to Africa but He does call of us to do something. Dave, Sara and the entire Saber team have chosen to do something by partnering with us and we are so thankful.”

Sullivan was impressed with the “passion and commitment” of the organization. He read AFA’s story in the book Grace Runner and then invited Amy to speak to the company’s sales managers during their annual meeting.

AFA’s board met with Sullivan and his wife, Sara, at their home along with Saber’s top executives on May 9 to share what was happening with the mission. It was as if everyone had known each other for years.

“We also know we now have a new prayer warrior on our AFA team with Sara,” Compston said. “She is going to be such a blessing. Her heart is our heart. We can see that clearly. The prayers of God’s people are our most important asset.”

Amy shared her testimony with the Saber team and how God has taken her life from drug addiction to Jesus addiction and many in the audience were in tears by the time she finished.

“We look at this as a great investment,” Sullivan said. “The commitment to what your organization is doing in Uganda is incredible. We want to be part of that in some small way.”

Saber Management owns and operates 19 cemeteries and four funeral homes in three states including Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri.

Sullivan has been in the industry for more than 30 years. He is a former wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns in 1973 and 1974 following a record-setting career at the University of Virginia.

Sullivan has taken the lessons of teamwork and utilizes them in the business world. Saber Management has become a powerhouse in the industry under his leadership.
