We are spending are last days in Uganda doing a little relaxing after a physically and mentally exhausting two weeks of distributing shoes in Moyo.

On Sunday we took a safari drive through Murchison National Park and witnessed some of God’s marvelous work. We saw giraffes, cape buffalo, elephants, warthogs, oribi, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Uganda Kob, jackels, monkeys, varieties of birds and countless others. The ride was three hours as we covered the grounds with a local driver. We were in search of the great lions but saw nothing more than fresh tracks.

But everybody was so impressed with the safari, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you’re going to visit Africa, you need to go on a safari is the way we figured it.

Our excitement was far from over. As we waited for the ferry across the Nile River, we started watching baboons on the ground. One of them, carrying a baby, was particularly captivating. He had most of us taking photos and then scampered behind the bus and then through the open door (even though Bro. Floyd had told us to keep doors and windows closed). Kathy Whitely and Shannon Luther were in the back of the bus when the baboon arrived. Kathy froze in her seat and Shannon started looking for an exit strategy through the window.

Fortunately, our bus driver Aaron began pounding on the bus and scared the baboon off but not before he snatched a sandwich from one of our to-go boxes.

The rest of the day was spent driving to Entebbe, which included a drive through Kampala. The streets were packed as usual. If you want to see chaos in motion, this is it. Cars and small motorcycles are coming at you from all sides. But our bus driver was up to the task.

We reached our final destination in Uganda where we will be staying until leaving for the airport Monday night to begin our 20 hours of flying home. The AFA team is excited about what was accomplished but also anxious to come home to loved ways (miss you Beth). It has been a simply captivating experience that none of us will soon forget.

Our last night here we had an impromptu church service that turned into a praise service.
